Finding the OTA Key
Locate the security key required for firmware updates
Finding the OTA Key
The OTA (Over-The-Air) key is a 4-character security code required for firmware updates. This prevents unauthorized firmware changes.
Where to Find the OTA Key
On the Tractor Virtual Terminal
- With the ISOBUS Block connected to ISOBUS, view its display on the VT
- Press the INFO soft key
- The OTA Key is shown on the info screen (e.g., "OTA Key: Ab3X")
About the OTA Key
- 4 characters - letters and numbers (case-insensitive when entering)
- Unique per device - each ISOBUS Block has its own key
- Permanent - the key doesn't change unless you factory reset
- Not displayed in web interface - requires physical access to VT or serial
Why the OTA Key Exists
The OTA key ensures only authorized users can update firmware. Since someone needs physical access to the tractor cab to read the key from the VT display, it prevents remote unauthorized updates.
Entering the OTA Key
When uploading firmware via the web interface:
- Go to http://192.168.4.1/update
- Enter the 4-character OTA key in the key field
- Select the firmware file
- Click Upload & Install
The key is case-insensitive (Ab3X = ab3x = AB3X).
Key Not Working?
- Double-check all 4 characters
- Make sure you're reading from the correct device
- The key excludes ambiguous characters (no 0/O, 1/I/l) to prevent confusion
